To upgrade its station end solution in preparation for ESN transition, Avon FRS employed the services of Telent to deliver a cost-effective solution to upgrade the operating system in the fire coder and implement a new solution for its secondary bearer.
Working directly with North Wales Fire and Rescue Service on its existing seven-year-contract, Telent provides preventative maintenance to service equipment and keep it in optimal condition, as well as providing first line support for the mobile data terminals in the fire appliances.
Fireground radios, developed in conjunction with East Sussex FRS with a simple goal, to meet the needs of firefighters on the incident ground and improve voice communication.
Radios are available in both ATEX and non-ATEX options, with a range of accessories specially designed for fireground roles. Analogue and digital modes are supported to allow easy integration and transition from legacy solutions.
Telent worked with East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service and Tisski, a Microsoft Dynamics specialist, to provide a cloud-based system to support Site Specific Risk Inspections, Home Safety Visits and Business Protection risk information. The digital transformation project replaces paper based process with a system providing a user friendly tablet based mobile solution to enable operational crews to capture risk information that is then uploaded in around 5 minutes and available from the MDTs across the fire service.
Working in partnership with Merseyside FRS, Telent have developed and tested a solution we call VLS, to address the challenge of high-rise building evacuations. VLS comprises a hand-portable, self-contained, highly directional acoustic device that is able to deliver spoken commands and instruction very high acoustic levels over distances up to 1000m – 1500m.
VLS allows officers at an incident to communicate over a significant range with multiple occupants of a high-rise building simultaneously, to prove updates, safety instructions and evacuation orders. It provides multi-lingual capability through the use of pre-record standard commands. VLS has applications and use-cases for many other emergency service and public safety incidents such as flooding, wild fires, etc.
