Telent provides preventative and reactive maintenance services to all of South Western Railway’s (SWR's) Station Information and Surveillance Systems assets.

There are around 2500 faults reported each year that Telent manage. To support SWR’s requirements, Telent is providing a customer-driven service, balancing asset availability and costs. Telent was initially awarded the contract in 2009 – the contract was retained in 2013 and when the franchise changed in 2017 - with the contract remaining in place until 2023.

Helping stations become fit for the future

Telent were awarded the contract from Network Rail to design, install, test and commission free public Wi-Fi for passengers in 19 of Network Rail’s managed stations. Telent was responsible for all elements of the design from radio coverage, fibre network, telecoms, and civils.

Putting passengers first, the service provides passengers with excellent, high-performance Wi-Fi, supporting a digital, touchless experience, wherever they pass through these stations. With a simple log-on and single click passengers are able to access continuous coverage across the entire station, while being protected via a Friendly Wi-Fi to filter mitigating illegal or harmful content, keeping children and their families safe online.

Station staff benefit a Passpoint network giving them secure, frictionless connectivity, which provided Network Rail an immediate operational benefit as they connect automatically across the station.

Sustainability with Digital Delivery

Network Rail are now using Telent’s Digital Delivery solution to conduct station surveys along some of their busiest routes. The result? Faster, safer, and more carbon efficient operations.
