Remotely monitoring assets at UK stations to improve sustainability

As part of Telent’s Environment and Sustainability vision, Telent’s dedicated Green Solutions team have been exploring and developing a range of innovative solutions to benefit the environment, customers and its supply chain to improve sustainability and reduce its carbon footprint.

Telent's Environment and Sustainability Vision is to be a leading partner in the road to net zero as well as providing outstanding service and solution offerings that help deliver its customers’ climate action ambitions. Telent is also partnering with the supply chain to enhance and support the communities affected by its choices and operations. Over the coming months Telent is sharing its progress in the road to net zero through a series of case studies.

Our third case study explores how the use of cloud and IoT-based remote diagnostics are helping Telent to revolutionise maintenance across its 500-plus station portfolio, delivering significant efficiency gains and environmental benefits to the rail sector.

Cloud-powered remote monitoring and equipment diagnostics empowers Telent to proactively monitor and rectify issues in equipment like IoT sensors, lifts, escalators, cameras, infrastructure hardware, and software applications. It eliminates the need for routine on-site maintenance for many assets.

For two decades, Telent has pioneered remote monitoring solutions, and our continued investment in this technology is delivering tangible benefits for clients like Transport for London (TfL) and train operating companies (TOCs). Telent is committed to expanding this technology across the UK, maximising efficiency gains, and offering these benefits to new clients and industries.

The future of station and site maintenance is remote, and Telent is leading the charge towards a greener, more efficient tomorrow.
