Empowering Women in Transport & Engineering

We’re proud to have played a leading role in this year’s Women in Transport and Engineering (WiTnE) programme, in partnership with Transport for London (TfL) — helping shape the future of women in engineering across our London operations.

Telent hosted presentations and small-group sessions to introduce candidates to real-world opportunities in transport and engineering. We offered three placements and were honoured to be the top-selected employer on Information Day — securing three of our top five candidate choices.

Our female candidates gained valuable, practical, hands-on experience across:

Heathrow and Pirin Court service desks

Night shifts with engineering teams on the London Underground

Traffic signal maintenance with our Planned Preventative team

Project management and asset operations in both rail and surface transport

Participants also received employability training at Capital City College, which included CV and interview coaching. Additionally, they received confidence-building support from Smartworks such as professional clothing and specialist training.

What Our Candidates Had to Say

It’s been great to be part of an environment where people are open, helpful, and genuinely want each other to succeed.

Everyone I was introduced to or met was generous with their time, offering advice, answering questions, and showing genuine curiosity in my journey.

What I really loved was how hands-on it all was. I wasn’t just observing, I was involved. It felt like I was part of something, not just a visitor.

We’re currently recruiting for a range of roles, including:

• Project Manager

• QEHS Assistant & Manager

• Station Systems Technicians (CCTV Levels 2 & 4)

• Reactive Fire Engineer

…and more!
