Telent joins INCA, supporting Altnets to roll-out gigabit fibre across the UK

Warwick, UK, 10 October 2019: Telent Technology Services Ltd (Telent), a leading UK technology and network services company, has today announced it has joined the Independent Networks Cooperative Association (INCA), as part of its focus to support Alternative Network providers (Altnets) in building the UK’s Gigabit networks across metropolitan, urban and rural areas.

As an INCA member, Telent plans to utilise its membership to support Altnets in their plans to further roll-out ultra-fast fibre infrastructure across the UK. Investment in the market for the implementation of physical infrastructure to deliver the latest connectivity technologies direct to homes and business premises has never been greater. Telent will play a key part in addressing this challenge and supporting the Government’s goal to drive Gigabit connectivity to full coverage by the mid 2020’s.

The new membership highlights Telent’s ability and expertise to support Altnets through the whole infrastructure network build lifecycle in the designing, building, operating and maintaining of networks. This includes a “concrete to cloud” solution for a range of network infrastructures, including access networks, the distribution network, the core network and a range of supporting professional services.

“Telent has a proven track record in building high-quality, future-proof network infrastructures for our customers,” said Ric Welsby, MD Infrastructure Services at Telent. “As an INCA member, we hope that we can play an instrumental role in providing Altnets with the services and tools they require to roll-out new high-speed full fibre Internet access to the UK’s homes and businesses.”

As a co-operative trade association for next-generation broadband services, INCA brings together some of the most innovative thinkers from the UK’s independent Altnet sector to create and expand a new digital infrastructure in the UK and Ireland.

Telent’s comprehensive offering for Altnets is designed to support the evolution of the UK into a digital and connected economy. This offering includes the network design, consultancy, and proof of concept to support the planning phase ahead of actual network build.

Key to the Telent offering is the installation of fibre access networks to homes and businesses. This offering extends to the surveys that provide address point verification, intrusive surveys, PIA installation, plus duct, pole and street cabinet installation. This, along with all fibre build activities between Points of Presence (PoPs) and customer premises, is also covered within Telent’s “concrete to cloud” proposition.

For the build phase Telent can provide equipment supply and installation, building and configuration of core networks between PoPs and data centres, as well as the monitoring and support of services when networks are live.

This comprehensive range of services allows Telent to offer a complete turnkey solution for Altnets. To accelerate network deployment, Telent offers a hybrid resourcing model that combines direct labour from Telent’s own teams with an established eco-system of partners and local contractors. A range of bespoke online systems have been developed by Telent to ensure simple, integrated and consistent management of projects through this hybrid model – providing delivery at scale without compromise to quality or management control.

Telent has a proven track record in the delivery of this range of services to fixed and mobile network providers in the UK. This includes the maintenance of both core and access networks for some of the UK’s biggest network providers. This is complemented by expertise in the deployment of large-scale Wi-Fi solutions in transport hubs, sports stadiums and large public venues.

Telent will be attending the INCA Conference in Manchester, which takes place on Wednesday, October 16 and Thursday, October 17 to highlight the comprehensive services it can offer to support Altnets.
