As part of Telent’s Environment and Sustainability vision, Telent’s dedicated Green Solutions team have been exploring and developing a range of innovative Green Solutions to benefit the environment, customers and it’s supply chain to improve sustainability and reduce its carbon footprint.

Telent's Environment and Sustainability Vision is to be a leading partner in the road to net zero as well as providing outstanding service and solution offerings that help deliver its customers’ climate action ambitions. Telent is also partnering with the supply chain to enhance and support the communities affected by its choices and operations. Over the coming months Telent is sharing its progress in the road to net zero through a series of case studies.

Commencing with our first case study, explore how Telent and one of its supplier partners, Sunstone Systems has developed a cost-effective renewable power supply solution to supply power to remote locations on the Scottish Far North Line whereby running in a power cable would cost upwards of £500,000.

The renewable hybrid approach delivers low environmental impact and operating costs, with maximum reliability, which can provide up to 80 per cent of the installation’s power needs through solar power. This is supplemented by a battery storage facility and a hydrogenated vegetable oil turbine generator, running at just 10 per cent the emissions of the existing diesel generator.

Looking further forward Telent and Sunstone are planning to deploy next generation renewable hybrid power solutions not just to remote area, but also to more localised, smaller scale installations to support the transition away from fossil fuels.

"Telent are committed to deliver innovative Green Solutions for our customers, integrating the very best Green technologies and supporting our customers to reduce their Co2 footprint as we all drive to deliver Net Zero before 2050”
