Keeping the traffic flowing – Telent announces three key contract wins in 2018

We are delighted to announce a number of key wins in the traffic sector since the beginning of the year, with our team working together in a concerted effort, project to project, bid to bid, to secure these contracts. In 2018, thus far, Telent have won substantial traffic management projects for Stoke-on-Trent City Council, Oxfordshire County Council and most recently Sandwell Council.

After a competitive bid process, the team won over the City Council in Stoke-on-Trent with its expertise as well as its knowledge of new and emerging traffic technologies. The four-year traffic signal maintenance contract for Stoke includes the supply and maintenance of traffic signals and related Intelligent Transport System (ITS) equipment. It also includes the delivery of essential training for the Stoke-on-Trent traffic signal engineers who will be working alongside the technology.

"These notable wins are the result of Telent’s expertise in traffic management systems, as well as its focus on technological innovation and proven ability to promptly provide solutions for the constantly changing road technology sector."

Only a month after the initial Stoke win, the team secured another contract, this one with Oxfordshire County Council. For this project, the team developed a solution combining the supply, installation and maintenance of traffic signalling equipment and the associated on-street ITS equipment to be deployed countywide. No easy feat, this five-year contract was gained through the team’s collaborative approach to work, its demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the requirements of the project, and its proven ability to promptly provide expert solutions.

Most recently, the team’s demonstration of Telent’s technical ability and its understanding of the needs of the customer and the region over-took competitors again as, they retained the company’s current traffic management and maintenance contract with Sandwell Council in the West Midlands. The updated four-year contract, which commenced on 1st April 2018, builds and continues on from the existing strong co-operative relationship the team has built with Sandwell council, since January 2008. Worth over £2 million, Telent holds responsibility for the maintenance of 109 traffic signal junctions, 174 pedestrian crossings and 8 journey time monitoring cameras in the area. The contract will also add social value to the community by utilising local resources and talent for the project.

These notable wins are the result of Telent’s expertise in traffic management systems, as well as its focus on technological innovation and proven ability to promptly provide solutions for the constantly changing road technology sector. The team’s ability to fully comprehend the needs of the local authorities and the project at hand, in a cost-effective, easily deployable package pays were evident in these successes. With minimal disruption at all sites no matter the conditions or complexity of the project, our networking solutions are a step ahead of others on the market today, and these wins are a testament to that.

We don’t only build traffic maintenance systems, we build relationships, and the cornerstone of any relationship is trust. We are pleased to say our clients trust not only our technology, but they trust our team of proven experts. Congratulations traffic team - a fantastic effort on all fronts, we can’t wait to see what the remainder of 2018 has in store.
