Whilst we embrace the evolution of GenAI, we also believe in humans. That’s why we have a team of recruiters here at Telent that provide the human touch throughout our recruitment process. If you meet the basic hiring requirements of the role you are applying for, your application will be reviewed by a human, because we think that is important.
Use of GenAI for candidates
As a leading technology company, we are a progressive and supportive employer. Our recruitment process is designed to give us an authentic picture of your potential to succeed in your chosen role at Telent as well as give you the opportunity to find out more about working with us.
If you wish to use GenAI to support your application, this page gives you guidance on how to use it throughout our recruitment process (if you choose to), including information on parts of the process where GenAI use is not permitted.
GenAI and your job application
GenAI tools, like ChatGPT, are revolutionising how we approach a whole host of tasks at work. As a leading technology company, we believe in embracing, not banning, these tools.
However, as with all technology, some ways of using it are better than others. Should you wish to use GenAI to support your job application, it's essential to make sure you use GenAI tools in ways that help, not hinder, you.
A job application is a chance for both you and Telent to get to know whether the role will be a good fit for you. Whilst we do allow use of GenAI when making your initial application, we also want to make sure we have plenty of opportunity to see the real you.
The right way to use GenAI in applications
- Be authentic: Your application should reflect who you are. We value your unique personal experiences, perspectives, and skills. And while GenAI might be able to help you bring that to life or offer ideas, it can’t replace your individuality or creativity. We don’t want to see the version of you that ChatGPT thinks we want to see. (Partly, because it’s probably wrong.) We want to get to know the real you.
- Preparation over performance: GenAI can be a valuable resource in understanding the types of questions you might be asked throughout the recruitment process and the different stages involved. Use it as a tool for research and preparation, but don’t rely on it too much or you may struggle to stand out from the crowd or may not perform so well in an interview.
Assessments
Depending on the role you apply for, you may need to complete assessments, particularly for our graduate and apprentice positions.
This is where we ask that you don’t use GenAI.
Assessments are designed to help you, as well as Telent, determine whether you're a good fit for the role based on abilities and skills. If you use GenAI to portray yourself as something you’re not, you may end up in a job that is not right for you, and you may not be successful in your new role. We want to see your true capabilities and strengths.
- Do's
- Use GenAI for initial research and structuring your thoughts.
- Check the readability and clarity of your answers with GenAI.
- Don'ts
- Let GenAI replace your personal stories and experiences.
- Try to use GenAI to complete assessments that are designed to evaluate your skills and natural abilities.
This guidance is to ensure you make the most of these technologies while staying true to your unique identity and experiences.
