Telent to play a key role for User Services with the Emergency Services Network

Telent has been selected by IBM to play a key role with User Services in the deployment of the Emergency Services Network (ESN).

ESN will support police, fire and ambulance services plus other public safety organisations in Great Britain, providing them with better technology and faster access to data in emergencies and frontline operations. IBM was recently announced as the new User Services supplier for ESN and has appointed Telent to be responsible for the on-boarding of User Organisations to the new Network which will support more than 300,000 emergency responders.

Working as part of a wider IBM-led eco-system of suppliers, Telent’s initial focus will be performing readiness assessments of the IT and communication infrastructure in place with each user organisation. These assessments, undertaken by Telent on behalf of IBM as the new User Services supplier, will identify and advise on any changes, upgrades or approvals required to support the transition to ESN.

Barry Zielinski, Strategy & Development Director at Telent

“We are delighted to have been selected by IBM for the user readiness aspect of User Services for ESN. Telent are ideally placed to support this project, having over two decades experience of working with the emergency services community across police, fire, ambulance and maritime safety, supporting a broad range of mission critical technology solutions. Working with IBM and their ecosystem partners, we look forward to supporting the transition to ESN which will deliver mission-critical services for first responders to enhance safety in our communities across Great Britain.”

As part of User Services, Telent will be working with the emergency services organisations alongside IBM and other trusted partners, including Samsung Electronics, Ericsson, Exponential-e, Frequentis, and Palo Alto Networks, to help ensure the success of ESN and better equip our emergency services with efficient and reliable communications.

Outside of User Services for ESN, Telent will continue to provide a wide range of mission-critical and communication technology solutions directly to emergency services organisations across the UK and Ireland. Solution areas supported by Telent span an organisation’s entire IT infrastructure, from control rooms through to vehicle communications devices and handheld devices used in frontline operations, plus the enabling wired and wireless networks backed by a country-wide engineering team and 24/7 support centres.
