Telent celebrates Volunteers’ Week 2022

It’s Volunteers’ Week and Telent is celebrating some of the selfless colleagues who give their time to good causes.

Volunteers’ Week is an annual celebration of the contribution millions of people make across the UK through volunteering. Over the week, Telent is shining a spotlight on some of the fantastic volunteers around the business to recognise their contribution and say thank you.

In this blog series, you can hear direct from colleagues who volunteer their time outside of their role at Telent. Find out what motivates them to give their time and hear about the experiences that have stuck with them throughout their volunteering.

Cerys Heath – Talent Acquisition Recruiter, HR

Initially I was volunteering as a Vaccination Steward during the lockdown to support the rollout of the vaccination programme. Now I just volunteer as and when I’m needed. Each volunteer has access to an app which shows the requirements in your local area. Depending on if they have a requirement, I’m available and if the location isn’t too far away, I’ll go in to provide support. I’ve worked in Leamington, Coventry, and Bedworth at different locations so far.

Ray Caines – Lead EHS Manager, Transport

I do quite a bit for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) as an unpaid volunteer. I have 10 cemeteries I manage in and around the Nottinghamshire area which have approximately 139 WW1 and WW2 casualties with known headstones that I look after.

Gareth Critchley – Programme Support Manager, Infrastructure Services

My current roles are with Chorley’s Angels as a Voluntary First Aider and ICT Officer. My role as a First Aider includes providing First Aid cover to any event that we have been asked to support. I also help to provide training to the public during any public demonstrations, other organisations such as local Scout units and train any new Chorley’s Angels. As the ICT Officer I help to manage the organisation’s social media presence and website and am the point of contact for any enquiries. I am also training and gaining experience to become a qualified and accredited Trainer.
