Telent sees record graduate and apprentice intake

Telent’s apprenticeships and graduate schemes provide a path of professional, educational and personal development for young, bright and talented people.

The programmes provide people with the training, mentorship and experiences needed to develop into successful young professionals across a range of disciplines throughout various industries at the UK’s leading critical infrastructure specialist.

The opportunities available through Telent’s schemes encouraged a record number of applications this year – and a record cohort of apprentices and graduates taken on by the company.

59 bright new faces

This year, Telent has recruited 59 new graduates and apprentices. 28 graduates will fill roles in Engineering and Project Management. This is the biggest intake of graduates at once for Telent and is double last year’s number.

The 31 apprentices have joined the company in sections including Rail, Telecoms and Finance, in apprenticeship positions including Engineering, Project Controls and Health and Safety.

The successful applicants came from a record number of over 2600 applications and will train and work at locations across the UK, including Warwick, London, Chorley, Camberley, Liverpool, Wellingborough, and Lewes.

These schemes are an excellent way for young people to take the first step of their career in engineering and telecoms. They provide hands-on experience of high-profile projects, as well as structured training, mentoring and support.

An introduction to Telent

Telent held first face-to-face induction since 2019 for the new cohort and focused on Telent’s values and wellbeing. Each table of graduates and apprentices was given the opportunity to share their own set of values. Other activities included each table forming their own Kazoo bands.

‘It’s been a great experience welcoming such a talented group of individuals to the business and to have had the opportunity to meet them face-to-face for their inductions” said Graduate and Apprenticeship Manager at Telent, Richard Giddings. “The fact that we’ve had such a strong pool of candidates apply and have taken on a record number of strong applicant shows us that the future of engineering and telecoms skills and leaders looks bright.”

Jacob Buckley, Graduate Software Development Engineer said “it's really made me feel more settled and excited to start work with Telent!”.
