Telent has recently been awarded contract extensions to continue to provide Station Information Systems and Security maintenance for three train operating companies, owned and part-owned by Abellio. They are Abellio Greater Anglia, Northern Rail and Merseyrail.
Abellio Greater Anglia is owned outright by Abellio. Northern Rail and Merseyrail are 50-50 joint ventures between Serco and Abellio.
Telent has worked with Abellio since 2009, which was recently awarded an extension of Abellio Greater Anglia franchise. Along with Serco, it was also awarded an extension of Northern Rail.
The work will involve maintaining all station information systems, including CCTVs, Customer Information Screens, Help Points, Public Address systems and Clocks.
Besides asset maintenance, Telent also support the Northern Rail IT department by attending and providing first line support on network faults at 84 unmanned stations throughout the North, as well as liaising with and managing third party network providers.
Telent will also continue to provide a 24/7/365 facilities help desk to Abellio Greater Anglia. The desk provides a single number and focal point for all station facilities issues across the Abellio Greater Anglia estate. The desk currently fields in excess of 8,500 facilities issues per year and is responsible for managing each issue through to resolution.
Steve Pears, Managing Director for Telent Rail, said “We are delighted to have our partnership with Abellio reaffirmed. By proactively replacing the old video recorders with state of the art Digital Video Recorders we have improved asset reliability whilst remote monitoring of assets has enabled us to improve both response and fix times. Our web-based maintenance portal, TRAMMS, has allowed Abellio to view up to the minute status reports on all faults.”
