Telent has been awarded a major contract to deliver the site-wide IT and communications infrastructure for Sizewell C, one of the UK’s most significant new nuclear power station projects. As the UK accelerates new nuclear development to support energy security and net zero ambitions, the project highlights the importance of robust, secure and resilient digital communications across complex, long-term infrastructure programmes.
Telent is appointed for its specialist expertise in delivering secure, mission-critical communications systems for complex infrastructure environments, including its proven track record in the nuclear sector. Building on its successful delivery of the site-wide IT and communications solution at Hinkley Point C, Telent will apply an assured and fully compliant design to Sizewell C, helping to reduce delivery risk while supporting safe, resilient and long-term operations. Telent will be part of a “Quad” of Electrical contracts which include INEO Nuclear, DEF Fire and Chubb Fire & Security and will collaborate to ensure a unified integrated approach to design.
The DTV contract will run from 2026 to 2035 and will see Telent deliver a fully integrated communications ecosystem across the entire Sizewell C site in Suffolk. This will include a data network which carries both corporate and system traffic, cybersecurity architecture, site-wide radio (Fire and Nuclear Constabulary) and paging systems, public address and voice alarm systems, emergency communications, telephony (including satellite), and resilient power solutions.

The Sizewell C solution will replicate the proven design delivered by Telent at Hinkley Point C, applying a blueprint that has already been fully designed, assured and approved for use on a UK nuclear power station. By replicating this approach, Telent will enable lessons learned from Hinkley Point C to be applied directly to the Sizewell C programme, supporting greater efficiency, consistency and reliability across delivery.
Security, safety and resilience are central to the programme. Telent’s systems are designed to meet the highest standards of availability and cyber protection, incorporating zero-trust principles, dual-homed data centres and high-availability architectures. Safety Related communications systems including public address and voice alarm, sound-powered telephones and emergency voice communications, will ensure robust site-wide connectivity in all operating conditions.
The award further strengthens Telent’s position as a trusted delivery partner for Critical National Infrastructure and builds on its long-standing relationship with the UK nuclear sector. The long-term nature of the programme reflects the importance of collaboration, continuity and deep technical expertise across the lifecycle of major nuclear projects.
Delivering a project of this scale requires trusted partners with proven experience in safety-critical environments. Telent’s track record in the nuclear sector, combined with its expertise in secure and resilient communications, gives us confidence that the IT and communications infrastructure at Sizewell C will support safe, reliable operations throughout the life of the power station.
"Sizewell C is a nationally significant project, and we are proud to be supporting it with a secure, resilient and proven IT and communications solution. By replicating what we have already delivered at Hinkley Point C, we are able to reduce delivery risk, build on established expertise and provide Sizewell C with systems that are designed to operate safely and reliably over the long term. This contract is also a reflection of the exceptional work delivered by our teams and the strong collaborative relationships built through previous nuclear programmes.
