"To me it means being treated equally, on merit, performance and personality, not on gender, race, age or any other discriminators"
At Telent, we promote equal opportunities for people of all gender identities. This year’s theme for International Women’s Day is #BreaktheBias and is about promoting a gender equal world without bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. To celebrate International Women’s Day, Telent hosted its very first virtual panel with four women from around the business.
We spoke to panellists regrading a range of topics including their varied experiences as women working in tech and how we can encourage more females into the industry. Only 16% of females have had a career in technology suggested to them compared to 33% of males and over a quarter of female students say they’ve been put off a career in technology as it’s too male dominated.
We are working to help close this gender gap by showing women what a career at Telent entails, by encouraging colleagues to show support and how understanding the challenges that women face can positively make an impact within the workplace.
Each of our panellist’s stories are unique to them and they all entered Telent through a different pathway. Here’s what they had to say about what #BreaktheBias means to them:
"To me it means being treated equally, on merit, performance and personality, not on gender, race, age or any other discriminators"
"To me it means that we should all be able to achieve the same, regardless of gender"
“Equality – to live in a world that has equality in ALL aspects”
“To me it means actively recognising and celebrating the achievement of our female colleagues and friends and supporting them to accomplish their career goals. I personally would like to see Telent have a more diverse senior leadership team and to include more women of different backgrounds”
