Preserving the past to inspire future rail engineers with the National Railway Museum

From our yearly intake of graduates and apprentices to our close partnership with Young Rail Professionals, Telent is keenly aware of the importance of inspiring the next generation of rail engineers to develop the UK’s rail infrastructure. A key source of that inspiration comes from looking to the past and the incredible achievements that underpin the history of rail in the country.

Telent has become a corporate partner of the National Railway Museum, which is connecting the past with the present to inspire the innovators of the future. Telent’s Silver-level partnership will support the Museum’s Masterplan project to transform its York location and its sister site, Locomotion in Shildon, into engineering powerhouses.

The National Railway Museum in York is known for its extensive collection of railway artifacts and interactive exhibits, showing the industry’s rich past alongside the cutting-edge innovations of today and future possibilities in mobility and rail travel.

"

We’re really proud to be supporting this world leading museum and its objective to not only preserve the railways’ rich history, but also contribute to its future. At Telent we are involved closely with the technology and innovation being introduced to the rail infrastructure and understand the importance of nurturing a talented workforce of engineers

"

Business Development Director for Rail, Telent

As a corporate partner, Telent will assist the Museum in its mission to be a driving force in addressing the challenges currently faced by the UK’s railway industry, such as the skilled workers shortage, rapidly advancing technologies, and the workforce gender imbalance.

"

Our mission is clear: to inspire the engineers of tomorrow. Partnerships with organisations like Telent who are passionate about rail and engineering, and who recognise the importance of helping to inspire a new generation of engineers and operators, is invaluable. Telent’s role as a company deeply involved in the country’s rail infrastructure and employer of young rail professionals makes us very excited to have the team onboard.
