Selected from more than 120 submissions, the award recognises Telent’s delivery of measurable social and economic value through its supply chain. Judges highlighted the company’s achievements in supplier engagement, diversity and Buy Social commitments, underpinned by a consistent, evidence-led approach to ESG within procurement.
Telent’s approach centres on embedding ESG directly into procurement decision-making and contract delivery, ensuring it drives tangible outcomes. This includes actively supporting diverse suppliers, simplifying access to opportunities and embedding fair payment practices, alongside structured supplier engagement and capability-building programmes.
In the last year, this has translated into measurable impact across the UK, with supplier spend generating significant local economic value and a majority directed towards micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, well above UK Government targets.
Telent has also continued to strengthen transparency and accountability across its supply chain, including the publication of its first Supplier Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) report, providing clear insight into supplier diversity performance and driving targeted actions to improve representation and access.
As part of M Group, Telent is now able to draw on greater scale and capability across a broader infrastructure platform, strengthening its ability to deliver sustainable outcomes and accelerate impact through its supply chain.
This recognition also reflects the direction of the wider rail sector, where social value and ESG performance are becoming central to decision making. Telent’s approach demonstrates how procurement can actively shape, deliver and evidence these outcomes in practice.
