Telent to demonstrate and present technology solutions for emergency services at BAPCO 2025

Meet us at stand G30

With a larger stand for 2025, Telent will demonstrate and present a range of mission critical communication solutions for emergency services organisations at this year’s British Association of Public Safety Communications Officials (BAPCO) exhibition and conference.

The annual technology event, dedicated to supporting emergency service and public safety organisations, will take place on 5-6th March 2025 at the Coventry Building Society Arena and is free for visitors to attend. Alongside the exhibition there is a wide ranging conference programme and visitors can also sign up for a range of guided tech tours around the exhibition floor. Telent, on stand G30, are included in three of the tech tours covering 1) Connected Vehicles, 2) Safe and Smart Cities, surveillance & IoT and 3) Transition to Broadband, network and coverage solutions.

Station End and PSTN Replacement Demonstration

Station End systems perform a critical role in the mobilisation of firefighters and resources. It is vital that networks are kept up to date to continue to enable ultra-reliable connectivity and efficient communication between control rooms and first responders.

Many station end and mobilisation systems include secondary or back-up bearers based on traditional PSTN technology that is set to be retired at the end of 2026. Telent have developed and deployed for multiple Fire and Rescue Services, a PSTN replacement solution based on Cradlepoint’s wireless router technology that uses 4G mobile network services to provide the secondary bearer. This solution is also approved for use with the ESN Connect service to provide readiness for the future transition to ESN.

Preparing for the transition to ESN

Emergency service vehicle fleet communication upgrade projects such as the Ambulance Radio Programme (ARP) plus a wealth of experience with support services for control rooms, mobilisation systems and communication networks, mean that Telent are perfectly placed to support organisations with their transition to ESN. The range of services from Telent includes wireless coverage testing, control room support and the design, maintenance and deployment of critical communication networks.

Coverage Assurance

Based on Telent’s experience with the ESN Assurance project for the Home Office, we can provide a Coverage Assurance service for LTE and 4G mobile networks. This enhanced service provides much more than just coverage testing. Coverage Assurance provides testing across four parameters: Coverage (is there a signal), Resilience (identify areas at risk), Quality (expected through put) and Capacity (number of channels and available bandwidth).

AI Driven and Smart Building Networks

We are now deploying network solutions that use AI driven operations and performance monitoring. This allows the network solution to anonymously report performance meta data from the network core, wireless access points and user experience to a central data lake along with performance data from many other solutions. AI and ML technologies analyse the meta data from all the solutions to deliver personalised monitoring, diagnostic reports and configuration recommendations, specific to each network - ensuring optimised network performance and enhanced user experience.

Combining AI driven networks with IoT monitoring applications and smart sensors, the concept of a Smarty Building can be achieved that will proactively control heating and lighting based on building occupancy to optimise energy usage. Use cases to support people counting, monitoring desk usage and understanding people flow around a building can all be supported.

A presentation and demonstration of this solution based on a proof of concept deployed in Telent’s own office will be included on Telent’s stand at BAPCO.
