Telent has helped transform a disused building into a thriving community cafe alongside Hampshire County Council, Three Rivers Community Rail Partnership (CRP), Railway Heritage Trust, South Downs National Park, Winchester City Council, CrossCountry and South Western Railway (SWR).
Telent has installed two interactive information screens, funded by Hampshire County Council, at Shawford Community Space, which was previously a disused building at Hampshire’s Shawford Station. An outside interactive screen shows local news bulletins, and an inside screen displays rail and bus updates and departure information, including disruption and service alerts.
The Customer Information Screens (CIS), installed by Telent as a donation to the community centre, are the same grade as those also installed by Telent up and down the country at some of the country’s largest and busiest rail stations, to keep customers informed and safe.
The Shawford Community Space, which is part of an SWR programme that makes redundant spaces available for local people to use, has a café to welcome local community members and visitors of the area, as well as a bike hire facility, offering visitors the chance to explore the area and get some exercise.
