Team Telent take on Three Peaks

Continuing the annual tradition, colleagues from Transport are doing their bit for charity.

For the third consecutive year a team of Telent colleagues will be climbing the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales for the Three Peaks Challenge raising money for Railway Children.

Ken Kyle, Maria Walker, Jo Nurse and Mark Hillier-Kidston, all from Transport, will be making the journeys between the three locations by rail from 27 to 29 June.

Starting in Crewe, the group will be travelling to Snowdon in Wales, Scafell Pike in Cumbria, England, and finally Ben Nevis in Scotland, with the mountains totalling more than 3,400 metres in height.

In preparation for the challenge, the team have already started their training to ensure they are in good shape for the challenge ahead.

"

Two years ago, I managed 2.5 Peaks thanks to the awful weather on Ben Nevis, so this year I am hoping for a sunny day with a gentle breeze. The Railway Children Charity do fantastic work and all donations large or small are greatly received to support this wonderful charity, and to increase the team’s motivation!

Teams from Telent have raised over £13,000 for Railway children during the previous two years and this year the team have a target of raising £4,000 for the charity but are hoping to exceed that.

"

The Three Peaks challenge is something I have always wanted to attempt and when the opportunity to tackle this monumental feat finally emerged, I leapt at the chance. The prospect of conquering three formidable summits, while also supporting a great charity has been a big motivation for me to stop thinking about it and just do it.
