Merseyrail puts trust in Telent for station information and CCTV maintenance

2 August 2023 – 64 stations in Merseyside are going to benefit from enhanced maintenance and analytics of customer information and security systems.

Following a competitive tender process, Telent and partner AinsCo have been contracted to continue providing maintenance services to Merseyrail for SISS (Station Information and Security Systems) and Fire & Security.

For a minimum of five years Telent and AinsCo will provide proactive, planned and reactive maintenance services for approximately 7000 assets which include Public Help Points (PHPs), CCTV cameras, PA speakers, Customer Information Systems (CIS) clocks, access control, fire alarms, intruder alarms and ticket validators.

Telent and AinsCo will utilise remote interrogation of the systems to support planned and corrective maintenance, pre-empting faults for Merseyrail. 3D scanning technology is being implemented to give Merseyrail accurate, visual asset data for a whole lifecycle view of its assets.

The capabilities of Telent’s remote access and field maintenance solution mean that the contract will save an estimated 1.8 tonnes of carbon emissions annually, gained from remote fixes and fewer visits to site.

“We’re delighted to be continuing our longstanding relationship with Merseyrail and AinsCo” said Mike Harten, Head of Operations at Telent. “Merseyrail is dedicated to providing a safe and secure environment for its passengers, and we’re committed to helping ensure that goal is met through an expertise and innovation driven collaboration.”
