Level 3’s on-rail infrastructure is vital to the UK rail industry as it is used operationally by Network Rail and the vast majority of train operators. The fibre optic network alone spans some 14,000 km and carries vital business-critical services for many UK organisations. As Level 3’s UK maintenance and support partner, we have supported this network day and night since 2009. We also support Level 3’s Railnet voice estate which comprises over 250 PBX and over 40,000 telephony end points. We are also Level 3’s preferred supplier for rail and metro based projects and provide networking and customer provisioning.
Since 2011, telent have been providing UK wide support for TeliaSonera’s fibre network and associated equipment rooms. This includes fibre installation work, maintaining their equipment environments, customer provisioning and support from our customer help centre.
Serco, Docklands Light Railway
Our work for Serco on the DLR involves extensive technical and engineering services relating to their fibre optic cable network which carries all operational and control data, including tram controls. telent managed the deployment of new fibre optic cables and seamlessly migrated the business and operationally critical services from old infrastructure to the new network infrastructure.
