Telent and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Authority extend ICT partnership into next generation

Telent has signed a new long-term contract with Merseyside Fire and Rescue Authority (MFRA), extending a 25-year relationship that has become a benchmark for trusted, embedded ICT service delivery in the UK emergency services sector.

The new contract, which began on 1st March 2026, will run for an initial five-year period with an option to extend by two years. It covers the full scope of ICT managed services, including End User Services, Networks, Command and Control Systems, Compute and Cloud Services underpinned by a robust security-focused architecture across MFRA’s offices, stations, control room and frontline vehicles. Service Level Agreements have been enhanced with new Key Performance Indicators to ensure Telent’s ICT Services meet MFRA’s evolving ICT needs.

The agreement will also see Telent support MFRA’s future ICT strategy and project requirements, building on a long track record of innovation. This includes Telent’s role in the delivery of key MFRA business change projects, such as a state-of-the-art operational training centre, as well as command and control systems and voice communications infrastructure upgrades.

Telent’s ICT Service Desk, staffed by Telent personnel and based within an MFRA building, remains a central feature of the contract supporting the ITIL-based delivery. Originally created to serve MFRA alone, the team now provides a cost-effective shared service also supporting East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, as well as providing internal ICT support for Telent nationally – a testament to its quality and capability.
