Stations are the interface for the travelling public; working in and around a station is complex and the systems being installed are vital for information, security and safety. telent is one of the leading project delivery companies for station works in the UK and our Station Information and Security System (SISS) works form a large part of our project work.

Our SISS capability has developed during our long involvement in the UK’s rail network; we have installed and maintained SISS systems on over a third of UK rail stations and the majority of those on London Underground and the Docklands Light Railway. Our tried and tested range of in-station capabilities offers a broad selection of solutions including CIS, PA, Help Points and CCTV systems. We work with the leading manufacturers of display technologies and CIS and PA systems to ensure that we design and install to meet the exacting requirements of Network Rail, DLR and LUL.

We work with industy leading technolgy partners and  innovation remains at the top of our agenda.  Our engineers continue to develop systems that not only improve station communications, but also offer increasing efficiency in station management. The latest developments with our Management Integration and Control of Assets (MICA), station management tool, enables information to be integrated with other station systems such as fire detection and suppression, lifts and escalators etc.

We also specialise in integrating new technology with legacy systems, right down to the heritage clocks. Those systems are accessed and controlled by station staff via tablets, on the move as well as from the office. We are also excited to be taking part in a new research project into “The Station of the Future.”

Technical Capabilities

  • Our in-house engineers carry out survey, design, integration, installation and commissioning of the full range of SISS elements
  • Public address services – from acoustic survey, site modelling and design, system design, through to optimising the performance of installed systems
  • CCTV and surveillance systems – from proven site design tools and system designs, through to validation lab facilities for mega pixel ultra-wide-angle systems
  • Communications and SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) control systems – our in-house developed Human Computer Interface (HCI) integrates commutation assets and SCADA, and supports worker mobility using PDAs. Our system is supported by a bespoke tool set to automate build for rapid deployment and has the flexibility to accommodate change
  • Customer information systems – in-house developed sign controller, which has been integrated with a variety of displays and has the ability to support legacy systems and heritage clocks
  • Help Points – extensive design, installation and commissioning expertise on new systems, and support for a wide variety of legacy help point systems
  • Induction loop systems – industry-leading expertise in integrated solutions for Help Points and Public Address
  • Acoustics – our team of qualified acousticians provides consultancy, survey, optimisation, design, environmental noise assessment and rectification services
  • Compliance with GRIP Process and Landlords Consent Process
  • Materials and equipment sourced from a large range of industry wide and approved suppliers
