telent gets physical to kick-off charity partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support

Pioneering technology company, telent, has completed its first in a number of challenges designed to raise £40,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support by December, as part of their charity partnership, which commenced on 25th May 2015.

To kick off the fundraising, a team of 31 telent employees, family members and friends undertook the Three Peaks Challenge on 28th and 29th June, a feat which saw the group climb the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales in 24 hours. The peaks are Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Mount Snowdon, totalling 42km in horizontal distance and 3,000 vertical metres.

The team has so far raised more than £21,000, which will also support Myton Hospice, a local charity with hospices based in Coventry, Warwick and Rugby.

Various activities at telent sites will also take place to contribute towards the whopping target of £40,000 for Macmillan. These include ‘On Yer Bike’, a 36 mile bike ride taking place from the Chorley site on 17th July and participation in Macmillan’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ on 25th September.

Mark Plato, CEO of telent said: “Our employees look forward to taking time out of their working day to support Macmillan Cancer Support, whether it’s through the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge, getting out and about on our bikes or a chat over cake and coffee.

“Our partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support will help fund vital Macmillan services in communities across the UK, so that no one has to face cancer alone.”

Adam Nash, Account Manager at Macmillan Cancer Support said, “I’d like to say a huge congratulation to thetelent team for completing such an incredible fundraising event and for launching our partnership together in such a committed way. Cancer can be the loneliest place, but the Macmillan team want to ensure that no one has to face cancer alone and without the help of partners like telent, we simply couldn’t do this. All of the money you raised will help fund our vital cancer support services, so on behalf of us all at Macmillan, thank you.”
