Telent names new Chief Executive Officer

Warwick, UK, 30 June 2020 – Telent Technology Services Ltd (Telent), the leading UK technology and network services company, has appointed Jo Gretton to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) as it continues to deliver mission-critical communication networks and operational systems for the UK’s national infrastructure.

Jo’s deep understanding of Telent’s operations, customers, partners and market place means she will effectively lead the company through continued growth and progress. Her appointment is a planned succession as part of the ongoing development of the business.

“I am delighted to take on the role of Chief Executive Officer and take the reins of Telent which has a proud and proven history delivering mission critical services to the UK,” said Jo. “Our priority now is to continue driving improvement and change in response to customer needs and the challenges of a post COVID-19 environment. Telent’s success is driven by the skills of its employees, and I look forward to leading our extensive and diverse team as we keep delivering and building on what we do best: providing and maintaining critical communications and IT systems to keep the nation running.”

Jo was a founding member of the Telent team on its inception in 2006 and was previously Chief Operating Officer. Prior to that she was Head of Legal and Commercial with responsibility for Telent’s commercial, QEHS, legal and Company Secretarial functions.

Telent has been successfully led by Frank McKay since September 2019 following the sudden death of its former CEO Mark Plato. Frank will continue to support Jo and the senior management team by resuming his previous role as non-executive Director which he has held since 2011.

Supported by an unchanged established executive management team, she will continue to drive a consistent approach of delivery excellence.

“With a wealth of experience across an array of areas at Telent, we are delighted to announce Jo as the new CEO and know that she will be very successful in her new role,” said David Naylor-Leyland, Chairman of Telent. “We would like to express our thanks to Frank McKay for successfully leading us since the end of last year and are delighted to welcome him back into his non-executive post on the Board.”
