telent extends their support and maintenance contract with South West Trains
telent Technology Services Ltd has been chosen to provide a further 3 years’ support and maintenance for the Stations Customer Information Systems (CIS) for South West Trains Ltd, a subsidiary of Stagecoach Group.
telent has been supporting the South West Trains’ Stations CIS since 2007 and this extension further strengthens this partnership, providing them with the systems support to meet the future requirements of South West Trains and its customers.
In addition to the original contract to maintain the current CIS, PA and Help Points, telent will now also provide support and maintenance for CCTV throughout the South West Trains rail network. The contract began in October 2013 and will run until February 2017.
Since telent were awarded the initial contract, they have significantly improved Stations CIS availability, resulting in an improved service for South West Trains’ customers.
telent’s remote monitoring systems, in use with the Station Information Systems and Security (SISS) assets across the South West Trains rail network, enable them to respond proactively to faults and issues prior to system failures. This has reduced the impact as well as the number of faults, allowing a high level of SISS availability to be maintained at all times.
Steve Pears, Managing Director for telent Rail, said, “We’re thrilled to be continuing our work for South West Trains for another 3 years, particularly with the addition of CCTV maintenance to the contract. This project really demonstrates how remote monitoring adds great value to maintenance contracts.”
Mark Barrow, Senior Systems Manager for the South West Trains-Network Rail Alliance, added: “The systems being maintained by telent play a vital role in providing accurate and up to date service information for the 210 million people who use our services every year and it’s crucial that they are maintained to a very high standard. We look forward to continuing our work with telent over the coming years.”
